show wasn't mandatory on
campus"
-THE
ONTARION, Guelph
"The performance
was
outstanding in entertainment
value as well as very
enlightening and informational. We thought his work was so
important for the students that we extended his "run"
to
three more shows. These
shows were performed in
the main residences on
campus and funded by UBC
Student Housing. Because
of the success of the event,
we would not hesitate to
have him back."
-Pamela
Tagle, AMS Programs Director University of British Columbia
"I thought
the show was
superb. It was very well
written, funny, accessible,
and makes many, many
amazingly helpful (and true)
points about how and why
men and women fail to
communicate these days.
You even succeed in drawing
a tear or two. Fantastic."
-Janet Kee, Sexual
Harassment Advisor Capilano College
"Thank-you
for making us
laugh, cry and feel uncomfortable all in the same show. Your performance
at our Surrey Campus was a hit. Our students had no idea all your
characters would have such an underlining message on male/female
relationships."
-Donna Suttie,
Programs Director
Kwantlen College Student Association
"'I Don't
Understand Women'
explores the relationships
between the genders in a
way that has men and
women holding on to each
other to avoid falling down
laughing. It opens channels of communication on subjects
that are usually seen as
too hot to handle in comedy,
such as date rape and
homophobia. This show
manages the feat of being
fast paced and hilarious while
also being sensitive and often
poignant. Every time IDUW
appears at York, lively debate
breaks out."
-Dr.
Siobhan McEwan,
Psychologist & Sexual
Harassment Advisor
York University
"Mr. Nawrocki
is a very talented
and uniquely gifted actor.
He has the ability to actively
engage an audience through a combination of his language,
notions and direct confronting
of issues that affect the student population of today. Our students
remained spellbound and noticeably entertained
throughout the entire
performance, with every
indication of desiring the
program to continue.
Having given Norman Nawrocki
an opportunity to perform is
one of the most positive
investments the College
has made."
-Pamela Mitchell-Crump,
Director of Equal Employment
Westfield State College
"Your
unique and creative approach
to how men treat and interact
with women in our everyday
lives and the inappropriate nature
of many societal norms is not only
entertaining but more
importantly effective."
-Steve Andrews,
Professor Faculty
of Applied Science & Engineering
Seneca College
"Norman
Nawrocki has a unique and engaging way of challenging his (and our)
audience without having the slam their minds shut. He gets the message
across. As a woman in the audience, it was refreshing to see a man
take a leading role in pushing other men to be honest about their
feelings and to recognize the vulnerability they share with women
as their brothers, lovers and friends."
-Wendy
Roberts, Coordinator, Harassment Prevention Services Ryerson Polytechnic
University
"His
performance is lively and agile, provoking both laughter and tears.
His message about male angst in relation to changing values around
gender is realistic, accessible, funny and ultimately supportive
of those caught in it's throes. I recommend 'I Don't Understand
Women' for all campuses across the country."
-Sally Spilhaus, Sexual Harassment Officer
Concordia University
"It's
been a week since your performance and the positive feedback continues.
The show has opened a lot of eyes and initiated a great deal of
discussion between students and staff alike. Many who were unable
to attend the show are asking me when you'll be back."
-Janina
Daly, Executive Vice-president Students' Representative Council
Inc. Canadore College
'I DON'T UNDERSTAND WOMEN!' welcomed in New Brunswick:
"Informative and entertaining, the show was 55 minutes of monologues
and slapstick, ranging from skits about a university course teaching
male audience members how to pleasure a woman, to a former playboy
whose view of the fairer sex was changed by his sister's rape.
Presented by the Student Union as part of Sexuality Awareness Week,
I Don't Understand Women was an effective way of exposing the violence
toward women that still exists in society while providing some safe-sex
tips to those in attendance. Free condoms (and suckers!) were handed
out at the end of the show, and Nawrocki stuck around to chat with
interested audience members, some of whom said that the show was
just as, if not more, informative than Sue Johansen's visit last
year. ' - The New Brunswickian, UNB, Oct
