Bush's Bum (BB) is an experimental Montréal trio that came together in 2002 as a recording studio project. BB is: Larry Cassini, guitar/special effects; Norman Nawrocki, violin; and Aaron Shragge, trumpet. The group contributed one piece, 'Le 11/09: Un jour comme un autre' (Sept 11, a day like any other), to a ska-themed francophone compilation CD called 2TONGUE4 ( on 2TONGUE Records). The album is available in Québec record stores or from LOCAL Distribution, http://www.sopref.org Larry Cassini (guitar, recording engineer, mixing & mastering. Larry is a long-time veteran player, vocalist, composer, sound engineer & music producer ( Studio DNA) on Montreal's music scene. He's performed across Quebec & North America since the late 1970s, and has composed original music for dance & theatre companies, multi-media sound tracks, etc., but his primary focus is writing & recording original Canadian music.. He released an independent CD in 1990 with long-time music partner, Gordon Fleming. His own folk/rock band is called the Echo Hunters. From 1990 to 1993, The Echo Hunters teamed up with Montréal vocalist Willow Quig and toured the Québec and Ontario club and college scene as Willow and The Echo Hunters: In 1993, The Echo Hunters sang backup on the popular Penny Lang CD entitled Ain't Life Sweet. The group often performed to sold-out crowds at the famous Yellow Door Coffeehouse, where they also opened for Garnet Rogers (May 2001), and headlined at the Ormstown County Fair where CBC Radio Noon broadcast them live across Québec (June 2001). They also performed as themselves and as Penny Lang's band at the Stanstead, Québec festival Words on a String (July 2001) to great acclaim. Larry handles vocals and lead guitar. He's also performed with the Digitals, Bo Diddley, Del Shannon, and Skipper Dean. The Echo Hunters release their first CD in Fall 2003. Larry also is the sound engineer for Norman's sex comedy cabarets. Aaron Shragge (trumpet) Aaron Shragge has been playing professionally for the last several years. He began studying classical trumpet with Karen Donnelly and jazz with Bill Mahar. He studied for three years at Vanier College with Art Roberts (Improvisation), Jocelyn Couture (trumpet), Tilden Web (piano) and Eric Harding (piano). At Vanier he played in Denny Christiansonís CJAD All City Big Band and Phillipe Kyeserís big band Kappa. After Vanier Aaron continued studying independently with Remi Bolduc (Improvisation) Michael Plumber (classical trumpet) and Jon Davis (voice). He has performed three times with the CJAD All City Big Band at the Montreal Jazz Festival and in numerous clubs and restaurants around Montreal including L'Air du Temps and Upstairs. In attending MusicFest Canada with the CJAD All City Big Band, and The Cegep St-Laurent Big Band he was awarded two AllStar band Honor awards, a Scholarship to Humber College and was selected to perform in the Ottawa Jazz Festival with the first International AllStar Jazz Youth Ensemble. He currently studies in New York with Jeremy Pelt, Laurie Frink Kenny Werner. His other projects include "Unity" -a free music duo and "L'Ensemble en Pieces" which will perform in the 2003 Montreal and Rimouski Off Jazz Festivals. |
